The Lisbon Depot MuseumThe Lisbon Depot Museum is housed in the old Rutland Railroad Station in Lisbon proper in the Town of Lisbon in St. Lawrence County in New York. It is dedicated to preserving the agricultural, railroad, and social history of Lisbon. The Lisbon Depot Museum is now open for the 2006 season. There will be new displays this summer and the public is invited to visit. There is no admission charge, but donations are welcome. In June, the museum is open by appointment. Groups or families desiring tours are urged to phone Rev. Walter Smith, Nancy Lafaver, Lois Glass or other museum board members. In July, regular hours are Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m. In August, regular hours are Saturdays from 2 to 4 p.m. On Homecoming weekend, Aug. 11-13, hours are: Friday 6-8 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Sunday 2-4 p.m.. In September, hours will again be by appointment. This summer the museum will be selling the DVD by James Jones of the local railroad, the NY&O, which also has scenes from the history of the Rutland in the area as well as pictures of the museum. They will also have handsome museum sweats, hats, and T-shirts. The museum was recently featured in Railpace Magazine, a color magazine of northeast railroading.
